Jabsco Flexible Impeller

Jabsco flexible impellers are designed for use with many compatible makes and models of bronze flexible impeller pumps used for engine cooling, bilge pumping, transfer applications, and general-purpose marine pumping.

Regular inspection and preventative maintenance are important when servicing flexible impeller pumps. Replace the impeller according to the pump manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule and operating conditions. More frequent inspection may be appropriate for applications with demanding engine or pump duty.

Marine Impeller Replacement

To replace the impeller, remove the pump end-cover screws and carefully remove the existing impeller from the pump. A Jabsco Impeller Removal Tool or suitable channel-lock pliers can be used to grip the impeller hub.

Do not use screwdrivers to pry against the pump body. Prying can damage the pump face or sealing surface and may contribute to leaks. Using the appropriate removal method helps protect the pump during maintenance.

Lubricating a New Impeller

Always lubricate a new impeller with an appropriate lubricant before installation. Lubrication helps the impeller slide into the pump bore and provides protection during initial pump startup and priming.

After installing the impeller, replace the gasket as needed and reinstall the pump end cover. Make sure the pump is properly assembled before returning it to service.

Carry a Spare Marine Impeller

Keeping a properly matched spare marine impeller on board is recommended for vessels equipped with flexible impeller pumps. Having a replacement available can help simplify routine maintenance or an unexpected impeller replacement.

Shop Jabsco flexible impellers and marine pump replacement parts at U.S. Boating & Marine Supplies. Verify your pump model, impeller dimensions, drive type, and application before ordering to ensure proper fitment.
