Scotty Snap Terminal Kit is an essential all-inclusive downrigger rigging accessory used to securely attach a heavy trolling weight (cannonball) to the end of your downrigger cable. It is designed with specialized insulating materials to ensure maximum corrosion resistance and dependable durability in both freshwater and marine environments.

Kit Components

The package contains everything needed to rig a single downrigger line:

• 1 Heavy-Duty Swivel Hook: A rugged snap hook coupled with a rolling barrel swivel.
• 1 Stainless Steel Thimble: Protects the downrigger wire or braided line from structural friction and fraying.
• 1 Soft Stop Bumper: A molded rubber bumper that covers crimps and cushions the impact if the line is retrieved too quickly.
• 3 Brass Connector Sleeves: Heavy-duty crimping collars used to permanently lock the wire tag end.

Basic Installation Steps

1. Slide on the Bumper: Feed your main downrigger wire through the soft stop bumper, ensuring the narrow end faces toward your boat reel so the wider end can seamlessly hide the finished crimps.
2. Thread the Sleeves: Slide the brass connector sleeves onto the bare line.
3. Loop the Thimble: Guide the line around the groove of the stainless-steel thimble, connect your swivel hook, and thread the tag end back through the crimp sleeves.
4. Crimp and Settle: Cinch the wire tight against the thimble, squeeze the sleeves firmly with a pair of rigging pliers, trim away any remaining loose tag end, and pull the rubber bumper down completely over the crimps.
