Engine Type

One of the biggest decisions is choosing the right oil for your engine type:

  • 2-Stroke Oil (outboards, PWCs, etc.) is mixed with fuel or delivered via a separate system. These oils need to burn clean, resist deposit buildup, and protect against wear. Wholesale Marine has 2-stroke synthetic and conventional oils from Mercury, Johnson/Evinrude, Sierra, Quicksilver, and more.
  • 4-Stroke/Inboard/Sterndrive Oil is separate from fuel. Needs good high/rpm protection, corrosion resistance, and stable viscosity across temperature and load. Quicksilver 25W-40 4-Stroke Conventional is a strong example.

Viscosity

You’ll find grades like 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-50, and 25W-40. The right viscosity depends on engine design, operating temperatures, and load and speed. For example, 25W-40 is common in many sterndrives and inboards.
